Baja California with the Z's - Day 18: Nearby Secluded Beaches

A warm and sunny day today, with temperatures in the mid to high 70s.  Very nice.

The sunrise was cloudless again but colorful:

I went on another morning hike, this time to the north of the campsite:

After the apparently daily visit of swarms of wasps, I decided to go for a ride and get pics of the nearby beaches.

a view of the beach found by Chris Z yesterday

All the above beaches are within a mile or less of our campsite, though you have to use trails away from the beach to reach them past the surrounding hills.

Here's a view of the campsite as one approaches it:

At the above picture's point, I found what looked like the remains of a petrified tree.  Here's a chunk of it:

After relaxing for a bit with the Z's in their portable gazebo, I decided to do some walking in the still cold but bearable surf/shoreline.  After the initial cold shock, it's actually quite comfortable.  Either I'm getting used to it or the last few sunny days is warming the water up a bit.

Not much else, just a lazy day for the most part.

Oh my, what an epic view, Dom! The thing I'd miss though would be green stuff (trees and gras). It looks like not even cacti can grow there.

Definitely a sparse desert environment SonjaM, I like it.

Of the many places you've settled in to boondock I think Baja California might align best with your desire for solitude and the lack of annoyance that can come with some of the more popular or accessible places in the US.

Looking at the photograph of you sitting and taking in the sunset I found myself thinking, "Dom is soon going to become an expat in Mexico."

Living the life Dom!

Thanks for the comments Steve, though it was a sunrise...just to be clear. The temperatures even at that early hour are quite comfortable and no jacket required anymore.

I do like the east coast of Baja California in terms of amount of people though, I believe the west coast of BC is more commercialized and full of tourists.

Conversely, it's a bit harder to find supplies and such on the east side. Propane, for instance, is proving hard to find in terms of a supplier who can fill RV onboard tanks.
