The weather is turning cooler....

Looks like the weather is turning cooler here in southern New Mexico, major storm up north in Colorado apparently, might even bring a little rain here!

The day dawned solidly overcast and would be cool and gray most of the day.

I spent the morning doing chores on Mariko, basically ensuring all the spark plugs were gapped at .035" per the Samurai Guru I met in Elephant Butte.  The other chores were touching up the black paint parts, mainly the bumpers, where rocks had pitted the paint and rust showed.

Also sprayed Stabil Rust Inhibitor in areas were I saw some evidence of rust starting in the engine bay, under the vehicle and so on.  Not too bad actually.

Spent some time trying to figure out a way to carry the folded down soft top but nope, the support bow is just too narrow to get past the rear support columns of the custom roll cage put in by a previous owner!  Oh well, I did fab a cover for the radio out of cardboard which I then waterproofed with Gorilla Tape, so if we do get rain, the radio will be covered.

Everything else inside the vehicle, now that the top remains off, should be fine in a light rain.  I plan to put some trash bags on the seats though, to keep them dry.  I drove into town and tried a couple of auto parts stores but no waterproof seat covers to be found.

Coming back from the fruitless search, the light was hitting the Organ Desert Peaks just right within the Golden Hour:

Tonight's sunset, which I drove out with Mariko to catch, proved "meh", even with lots of clouds in the western sky....too many clouds, it turns out.

It's becoming a lot cooler here in southern TX. By Monday, the low will be below freezing (or so the weather guessers say). But then it should warm up after that. By the time we head north, it should be nice again...

That is similar to the weather forecast here though it will not get below freezing except that night, I might even have to turn on the heater!

Checking the radar/weather map, looks like the areas that will stay warmer as SW Arizona and southern California. All of Texas and NM will be having freezing temps.
Hope your night heater is working, have plenty of fuel for it?

Stay where you are. It is getting cold here in North Texas and expected to stay cold for several days. Not the average temps here.

My propane Catalytic heater stands ready CCjon! At least two weeks of propane in onboard tank. I am hoping for snow on the Organ Desert Peaks for pics....but no snow down below then where I am at.

Mariko looks a lot cooler sans the top, Dom. But its probably more dusty and colder, eh?

She is way cooler SonyaM without the top, pun intended. But yes colder and dustier. Your feedback about your comment being lost for the other post prompted me to check and there was a bunch so there's some catching up for me to do.

Thanks us for the advice, it looks like quite the storm rolling through the next couple of days and I bet all the warm spots are swarming with campers right now.
