The Great Escape - Day 17: Cruise Ship Day 1

July 6.

Well we boarded our cruise ship, the Celebrity Millenium with zero issues or problems I'm happy to report.  The cruise people really have the process down pretty good I must say.

We're cruising with a couple of friends from our Fort Bragg days, Jane and Larry.  They're cruise veterans so we were learning the ropes the easy way.

A couple of last views of Vancouver

Soon enough, we were on deck, at a bar, having a drink while we waited for lunch to be served and our rooms to be declared ready for occupancy.

Our cabin turned out to be larger than I expected, and the bathroom was larger as well...I had been expecting something the size of the RV!

After lunch, which was sumptuous, we explored the ship a bit and relaxed until we had to go through the Muster Drill.  Basically we learned where to muster in case of an emergency and how do don life vests, etc.

Dinner was delicious and nice, the cruise package we got led to us getting assigned a nice table right next to one of the viewing ports.

Our view as we dined....

After dinner, casual strolling to the front of the ship to check out possible sunset picture locations.  Around 8:30PM, Larry, Jane and Martha went to attend a comedy show in a different deck and I decided to try for sunset pictures.

It turned out to be a pretty weak sunset but the prelude had its moments.

A good first day of cruising, I think I could get to like this mode of travel.

Pretty nice. Gonna trade in the RV for a boat?

The thought has crossed my mind a few times before RichardM, but I’m a groundpounder, not a sailor.

Overheard in Sitka one afternoon, "Mary this is boring and dirty can't wait to get back to the ship and play Bingo. Looks like you folks are having a great time

I love the LOVE pic of you and Martha. That should be printed and displayed. Have a great time and I hope you'll get some better sunsets.
