Displacing to Hotchkiss, CO

Sunday, June 16

Now that the plan is no longer to go to Arizona when its getting hot there...what was I thinking?  I am heading home, at a leisurely pace, and I think the plan is to go up North, perhaps to Montana for a week with Martha and oldest son Patrick in the URRV.

Displaced from near Moab, UT to Hotchiss, CO this morning, to meet with fellow Uralista Dana W and discuss options to modify the trailer to carry both the T-Dub and a Ural sidecar rig.  More to follow on that.

Dana W and I had lunch in Paonia, CO and then I left him to ready himself to commute back to Eagle, CO to his job location during the week.

Set up camp at the Delta County Fairgrounds, you can get a spot with electricity and water for a suggested donation of $6 a night, such a deal.

Having electricity I ran the AC longer today than yesterday when on generator.  It was quite luxurious even though the outside temp didn't exceed 86°F (30°C).

The evening cooled down nicely, it even threatened to rain for a bit but nothing but a few drops.

The cloudy skies though, made for a good back drop for sunset pics at a nearby BLM dirt road area.  Rich K. had shown me this spot last time I rode with him in the area.  He said it was a good spot for sunsets.

Pretty nice finding electricity for $6/day. Especially if it’s hot (or cold). Looking forward to hearing about your trailer mods...

It’s a pretty good deal this camping site. As to the trailer mods, talked to local welder; he’s ordering materials and I hope to return soon after he has it for him to extend the tongue by two feet. More later.
