Glamping at Lake Powell, a Sunset and a walk through Lower Antelope Canyon

Wednesday, OCT 17

Views of the colorful rock formation bordering Lake Powell, across from the campground we glamped at tonight:

From the top of the crowded Wahweap Overlook, two miles from the campground:

The overlook was swarming with selfie-taking tourists

Thursday, OCT 17

We toured the Lower Antelope Canyon, a pretty famous slot canyon near Page, AZ.  It was a bit crowded for me but endurable given the absolutely beautiful views of the water-formed rock formations within the canyon!

We used the Dixie Lower Antelope Canyon Tours outfit and they did a very good job of crowd control and keeping things moving.  Kudos.

After Lower Antelope Canyon, it was a short drive over to Horseshoe Bend Overlook.  1.5 miles roundtrip amidts large numbers of tourists, to view the below bend in the Colorado River:

I think I like the one at Gooseneck State Park in Utah better, you can drive to the edge (no walking) and you can camp there!

I hope you enjoyed the views of the interior of Lower Antelope Canyon, I took way more pictures but managed to condense them to the 21 above.

Pics from Lake Powell always remind me of the Charlton Heston movie Planet of the Apes.

Marvelous shots from the canyon, Dom, perfectly set in scene.

Great shots of the canyon. Dom. I heard that you can pay the guides to block the trail so one can take photos without tourists walking thru your shot. Is that true?

Thank you Spat

CCjon, not sure re paying guides to block....they did a pretty good job of moving people along though. And really, most shots are aimed upwards in the slot canyon so people rarely were a factor.
