Pretty laid back today, so it went pretty great.
In the morning, after a sumptuous breakfast featuring Maplewood Smoked Country Bacon, we drove over to the town of Eddyville to pick up the radiator upper hose I'd ordered yesterday from the NAPA store.
Returning back nearer to Kuttawa, we signed up for two rental kayaks and followed the provider to a nearby boat launching area in a small cove on Barkley Lake.
We signed up for two hours, and we managed to steer somewhat straight courses to nearby coves and the Buzzard Point Marina's boat docks as well. It was all pretty much a "No Wake" area, and except for one idiot in a pontoon boat, all other boats we saw followed the rule.
We paddled all the way past the marina, to where we could see what we believe was the State Penitentiary in the hazy distance then paddled back to where we started. Not many pictures taken, didn't want to risk the camera out of the plastic bag too often!
We returned the kayaks to the owner, who happened to be dropping off more rental customers when we came back in. We then drove over to nearby Broadbent Ham shop for more delectable ham and bacon supplies and a couple of sandwiches for back at camp.
On the way to Broadbent's, Martha spotted these two Pelicans sunning/grooming themselves on a nearby pond:
Later in the afternoon, Martha suggested we go for a dip. So we drove over to the public access ramp area and found we had it to ourselves! We had a nice time floating about and then we had a fun time doing cannonball jumps off the dock that was alongside the boat ramp!
Today's our last day here at the Eureka campground, in the Lake Barkley Recreation Area, spot #3. This is one of the quieter and nicely sedate spots we've camped in so far. Even during the Fourth of July, no yahoos shooting guns in the air, illegal fireworks, boozed up people going wild. Back in Colorado, the kids reported the usual idiots setting off large amounts of illegal fireworks of course.

You could put a couple of kayaks on top of the Samurai. Then add a couple of crossbars to turn them into a catamaran. The add the TW to power your boat. I can see it now…
RichardM, I was originally picturing the samurai still underneath the catamaran and then I realized you meant it only as a carrier of the catamaran!
I am pretty sure your concept would add incredibly to the schlep factor. Still, it would be quite fun.
Ah... good times. I miss kayaking... nice shot of the pelicans, I would have guessed their habitat rather to be in Florida or the Californian coast.
Thanks SonjaM, my guess is the four major rivers in the area drew them away from the coast?
1. Everything is always better with bacon
2. How were the boats? I like those style of sit on tops.

Lori, the boats seemed a bit tocky at first to me but otherwise OK....a bit of effort to keep pointing straight.
We'll see what we can do about another cannon ball footage video attempt.
