Eastward, Ho! Day 14: Quarry Cove COE Campground near Nimrod Dam

Today we displaced to a different COE campsite hoping for better conditions than those found by us at Short Mountain Cove, OK.  It wasn't bad, just not great either if that makes sense to you?

A couple of hours later, we were at the new site and located our site at the top of a small hill, next to a Pavilion.  Only one other campsite across the road from us, the rest of the campers were down the hill and closer to the water.  Our site was heavy with trees and their shade, the swim site was nice and close by and it felt cooler up on top of the hill as well!

Site 12

Later in the afternoon, we took a drive to check out the nearby Nimrod Dam, you can actually get quite close to this dam, first a look from the parking lot nearby:

You then take a walk down some steps, past many Black-Eyed Susans....

Down a grassy path which parallels the streaming water from the dam:

and a selfie with Martha's iphone:

We're only here for one night, then we're moving tomorrow to a different spot further on.....

Still, worth the move for the one night stay....much better spot than last one.

No shortage of water at the Nimrod Dam (isn't nimrod a curse word?).

Another beautiful sunset pic, Dom!

Boy , you guys are on the move. Sorry to read about Martha's allergies though. Martha is known for soldering through anything so I imagine she'll be fine in a day or two.

Safe travels. am looking forward to see what you find at the Samarai gathering.

Thanks RichardM....not too bad a site I must admit. Better than Short Mountain Cove which will not see me again.

No shortage SonjaM, in fact, there's evidence of high water levels still being an issue due to large amounts of rain last month. Thanks.

Martha is back to 100% CCjon, thanks. I hope to be "elucidated" at the Samurai gathering, such as "does yours do this?" or "is this right?" or "do they all do this"?....you get the idea.

To answer your question SonjaM, it's used as an insult in north america:
Wikipedia says: In modern North American English, the term is often used sarcastically to mean a dimwitted or a stupid person, a usage first recorded in 1932 and popularized by the Looney Tunes cartoon characters Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, who both sarcastically refer to the hunter Elmer Fudd as "nimrod", as an ironic connection ...

Nimrod was also a person in the Bible:
Nimrod the Hunter was a leader amongst men and a builder of cities, including Babel and Nineveh. He was a great-grandson of Noah but did not live up to the virtues and standards that God had found in Noah.

I've only heard it used as an insult before....so looking it up had me learning the bible bit.
