I've been staying with RichardM for over a week now, feeling a bit guilty about disrupting their routines. They remain gracious hosts of course but still, I'll be glad when the parts get here.
UPS reports the truck left Anchorage at 10:55 PM Thursday, but then this morning there's a "Weather Exception" notice due to adverse weather down by Anchorage. As the truck has not been logged with an "arrival scan" in Fairbanks, it makes me think its sitting somewhere between Anchorage and Fairbanks. I wonder if it even made it out of Anchorage.
Sigh.
Yesterday, the major accomplishments were helping RichardM troubleshoot a vibration issue with his tug and associate fairing. Things have improved in terms of vibration of the tug but the fairing remains an issue.
We also figured out a better way to carry my tent on Valencia, and a more secure spot for the tailbag. You'll note, in future pics, that they've basically swapped positions on the rear of the tug.
Oh, and the stock horn on Valencia died. Probably all the ice and muck it collected on the way to Alaska....got a new, slightly louder horn at O'Reilly's Auto Parts.
For your amusement, yesterday when I got to the Coffee House for my now regular meeting with fellow Airheads, two comedians made the following comments:
Ken: "Dom, you should apply for the PFD! You've been here long enough!" The PFD or Permanent Fund Dividend is an annual dividend given to each Alaskan Resident from oil monies.
RichardM as we're standing in line to place our coffee order: "You should have gotten the frequent coffee buyer card, you'd have gotten the free coffee mark by now!".
Yep, these are the people I hang out with here in Fairbanks. :)

SEE, now that you're a regular it's going to be very hard to leave. You've got a great community of friends so even when you leave and eventually make it home, you would still be considered a local.
They are going to be talking about you for years . . .

Riding the Wet Coast
They were talking about him at the local Harley/BMW/Honda/Polaris dealer today. They had heard about the uncut valve seat on the Ural and was wondering if I've run into him yet.
Excellent community. That just founds like a great group and fun to get together with.
Bobskoot, it will be kind of hard to leave but leave I must. I'll be back through per the big plan.
RichardM, ah but did you admit choosing to be in my company? :)
Beemergirl, it was a lot of fun, thanks to all for commenting.
