First Day at New Job

Just a record posting to mark my first day as contractor to Encana's Natural Gas Division.

The ride there was about 45 minutes, a bit more on the way home.  Heavy traffic both times but manageable.

I've found a bargain priced parking garage less than one city block from the building where I work, $3.50 a day for motorcycles, which is a good deal for Denver's downtown area.

Valencia was a tight fit but she fit in the second of two motorcycle
only parking spots.

I'll be riding Brigitta during the nice weather days of course.  Today, it was Valencia as I needed her sidecar's storage to cache my riding gear until I was shown my cubicle.  I didn't want to be wearing the gear, on top of my office clothes, and work up a big sweat while waiting.

Good first day, a bit slow but it'll take time to get me spun up.  In a happy coincidence, I ran into a former work colleague from ecollege in the afternoon.  Tom is his name and he started today as well!

I was going to say welcome back to ? and couldn't think of anything positive. Phrases like "world of the damned" kept coming up....

Well, congrats on finding reasonable parking!

I was also thinking of you today. My first day back at work too. It was great to take the car, turn on the A/C and listen to the radio

like you, our trips now seem like a dream that never happened

I hope you'll like your new work. At least it will pay for the gas money ;-)

Good luck with the new job and adjusting to being back in the rat race.

Nice score on the parking garage.

I hope that work treats you well. The commute doesn't sound like fun though. It makes me appreciate my 3 miles (10 minutes)

Caged it to work eh?

Wellllllll.......it is said that the bad times, (work) makes the good times (riding) sweeter. We hope your work is rewarding, enjoyable and satisfying. Be safe out in that traffic! GlennandSun

BTW, our rally planning is completed, our route is nearly 700 km. You still plannin' on the Sep. 7 rally?

Hey that is my parking space ;) They occasionally see a white Patrol there. The lady at the 17th st exit sure likes the SC rig and one of the security guards almost made me late wanting to know about the Ural. Congrats on the job and welcome to Downtown Denver.

Thanks Glenn and Sun, as to the rally, the morning will be spent in a firearms safety class with my youngest son, I fear my points for the rally will be low.

Hi Spat, am still unsure how they would track if you used a motorcycle only space for one's rig or a car space for which you technically get charged more....

Starting a new job nearly always feels odd. So many people to meet, so many new things to learn and do. All very exciting, no doubt. What you need is some foreign chap to discuss it with. See you later tonight! I am looking forward to chatting with you and Martha once more.
