Day Trip to Bisbee, AZ

Riding in their Jeep Gladiator, Martha and I accompanied Chris and Lori Z on the 30 mile or so drive to Bisbee, AZ.

Cool town with buildings and homes nestled on steep hill sides.  Martha and I checked out the town's museum after a short walk along the "main street".  Nothing remarkable about the main street walking:

The shops were just the standard tourist trap offerings.

The museum was "well curated but small" per Martha.  I thought it was OK with some stuff that caught my eye.  It was otherwise the standard mining photos/implements, photos of folks "back in the day" ...

The way they tracked where the miners were...

Among the mining exhibits was a chance to pose Martha:

Linking back up with Chris and Lori Z.  We drove upwards from the main part of town, looking for views of the town.  One lane narrow roads led us up and to some good spots:

You can see part of the mining complex to the south

We then drove over to the opposite side of town, parked along Highway 80 for these shots.  It shows where we'd perched, up high on the hillsides.

A short drive south is the Lavender Pit, the big mining operation's remnants.  Not as large a hole in the ground as the mine pit in Ajo, AZ I think but still, impressive.

I believe copper was the main ore sought here.

A little further south, we checked out a Thrift Store near a Dairy Queen (too small for burgers, just ice cream).  The thrift store did have this interesting mural though:

Lunch was at a small restaurant/brewery where everyone had Chicken Tenders.  Today was a high sodium intake day for me.  Oh well.  Still kept it under 3000 for the day.

Returning to Bisbee, we checked out the street known for its vintage cars and displays: Lowell.

Apparently, all the vehicles are owned by same person.  Looks like he's letting it all quietly rust away in the Arizona sun.

The return to camp by the Dragoon Mountains was uneventful and mostly quiet as we were all experiencing food coma due to the large number of chicken tenders consumed!

Sunset was nice:

After a nice dinner of Brussel Sprouts air fried with Bacon and Turkey Sausage chunks, we played Tenzi and perhaps drank a bit too much.  Good times.

Apologies for the picture quality...unsteady hand, low light conditions and did I mention we might have been drinking overmuch?
