Before it got really windy today, I took Scarlett out for a ride towards the American Girl Mine area.
Dust was stirred up of course and the rest of the day was spent inside, out of the wind and dust. Got some cleaning done and it was surprising how much dust had gotten into the VRRV!
I packed up the motorcycles in the late afternoon, feeling sand blasted by the wind as I did so.

Left soon after 7AM and got my leftover Mexican Pesos changed back to US Dollars. I had a bit over $140 left from the $500 cash I took into Baja California, not too bad I guess.
Then, in a senior moment, I left for the Quartzite area before remembering much later that I was supposed to pick up some Amazon packages from the locker! Dammit. Oh well, they'll be retrieved after 3 days and my account credited. Then I will reorder I guess.
When I got to Quartzite, the place still seemed to have a lot of RVs in evidence. I checked a couple of candidate sites and elected to keep moving north instead.
Staying on AZ 95, I saw that BLM sites near the highway were all crammed full of RVs and other campers! This was especially so in the areas around Lake Havasu City! Needless to say, I kept going.
I would end up at a site off of I-40 close to Drake, AZ. There were two obvious campsites along the road past the gated entrance. One other Class C was already there and I grabbed the second site that was 1.6 miles from the gate.
Some somewhat scenic mountains in the distance but otherwise, not much else to recommend this place for extended stays; for one night it'll be fine.

It was pretty windy around here yesterday as well. Gusts to around 35mph. And tonight it’s forecast to be down to freezing. Go to Arizona, they say, it’s always warm…
Supposed to get to 31 here tonight, they lied to us about Arizona, RichardM.
Everyone seems to claim that the weather is unusual this year.
Howdy Dom,
Spent a couple of hours today getting caught up on your trials, tribulations, and triumphs since January 1st.
Some great pics in there and good stories. I'm envious of your wanderings and can't wait til my retirement date arrives.
Cheers,
Dan K.
Thanks Dan
