All in all, not a bad sight to greet one's eyes while walking the block or so from parking spot to work. I rode Brigitta, my '87 BMW R80 today, she's within 100 miles from the 100,000 mile mark on her odometer.

I was just thinking of these canyons of Cement, rather than your usual canyons of rock and dirt, and canyons of rock don't reflect

Nice reflections in the first photo though it would be nice not to have to go downtown at all. Only 100 miles, eh. Be sure to take a picture!
Thanks Lucky, the light had been right yesterday and today I thought to take pictures.
Steel and concrete canyons, the analogy has been made before...I prefer the natural ones of course. As to having to ride downtown, its not too bad during the hours I do so....I avoid the rush hours.

Those building makes great mirrors for the sky. Wouldn't want to clean their windows though.

your pics have great.. new camera working well.. possible the operator has more to do with it.. Colorado has all the nature one can imagine.. you just have to stop and look.. aside from that I want to get an opinion from you abnout the spot gps.. reviews are poor.. your Alaska trip looked good.. I am planning an adventure thru Canada and Alaska in June of 14 and was planning to use a spot as well.. reviews say it does not perform well.. I also use a system with my ham radio but Canada rockies is sparce with repeaters.. sorry for rambling.. Joe

Hello JT Lee and thanks for the comments. As to the SPOT's performance, I too was leery of it due to the online reviews. I will say sometimes it doesn't "report" as regularly as you want it to when in "tracking" mode but it worked well enough for my Alaska trip. Gave my family peace of mind and though I never had to engage the emergency locator feature, having it in the wilds of Alaska and Canada was comforting. So, for your trip, I'd recommend it. I hear a new model has come out.
Buy the lithium batteries, regular batteries wont last. The extra cost of the tracking feature, how much is the ability to track your journey semi-automatically and at same time giving comfort to your loved ones worth?
As to riding to AK and Back....if I were to do it again, I'd take the ferry to Anchorage, ride around AK, then ride down through Canada.....
No idea about HAM radio coverage as I don't use it. Phone coverage (Verizon) was OK in the bigger towns and cities. The internet and WIFI is pretty much dependent on some sort of civilization. Some parts of Canada and AK I rode through, I am pretty sure I was the only one around for many miles....prepare accordingly.
