Spring-like Conditions

Very warm here in the great State of Colorado today, highs in the low 70's and it's not even Spring yet!

Here's some photos I took today and yesterday.  Hope you like them.

Yesterday's short test ride to test viability of the bike panniers above.
They'll help with "ready access" stuff during the trip to Alaska.

Nice looking panniers. These are still designed for moto use or are they bicycle panniers?

I like the sunrise photo, I went for a ride today but I think my iPhone didn't like being left in the tank bag (too cold) as it shut down when I tried to take a picture.

Thanks Richard, they're bicycle panniers. My iPhone hates the cold too, I now carry it in my inside pocket whe riding in cold temps.

Spring made a little effort here in Yorkshire a week or two back. Then we got March snow which is pretty unusual. I have the opposite problem with cold. My camera can't handle it so I end up using my old GalaxyS which doesn't seem to mind.

You're getting much warmer than we are. We had a great Spring day last Saturday around 10°c. Today it was Spring too but with lots of rain but much cooler. Snow is forecast tonight for Whistler

Thought I needed to make a comment on the panniers...

I rode Alaska in 2010 on a Raider. It started raining just out of Tok, all down through Anchorage, Denali, Fairbanks, back through Tok and the Yukon, well into Northern BC...

Some get bullied by the weather and hate it. I adopted the "Embrace the Weather" philosophy. Folks looked at me kind of odd when I'd walk into places in the downpour grinning and giggling. ;)

At first it bummed me out, but then I realized; I'm on a fine motorcycle, free as the wind, riding the Alaskan Highway! I could be back in Colorado selling plumbing parts in a hardware store! HooYa! :)

The convenience might be good with open bags like that, but I see you hauling around wto large buckets of water. Unless you have rainproof lids for 'em I think you might be unhappy with that arrangement.

John, electronics are sensitive to temperature extremes, am surprised your phone doesn't seem affected. My camera's autofocus is affected in temps below 20F. Thanks for th visit and comment.

So Bob, rain is what April is like in Vancouver ?

Dear Charlie6 (Dom)

The weather is about as flaky as it gets these days. We've had a number of days with the temps in the high 40's (F) at the Jersey shore, and three inches of snow are expected tomorrow. Hot shit, huh?

But I am told the weather will be unseasonably warm for the rest of the spring. Great pictures, as usual. I never would have guessed the panniers are for a bicycle.

Fondest regards,
Jack/reep

I think panniers are great especially for carrying your property on trips. But as much as i appreciate their utility ,i find the detachable panniers not convenient to carry around. Anyway i hope you enjoy your trip up North
