A Neglected Nighthawk

Since the past summer, and probably earlier than that, I'd been noticing this black Honda Nighthawk 750 motorcycle.

It was always parked in the same spot, at the curb, of this apartment complex I cruise through whenever I go to the secondary data center in the DTC.

At first, I thought nothing of it, that the owner always had the same parking spot based on his or her work schedule.

Then I started looking for telltales that it had even been moved, nothing.

Today, I was heading home early and I decided to stop for a closer look.

The poor thing, I now believe, has not moved at all since I first noticed it during my morning commutes into the Denver Tech Center! The seat was weather-beaten and cracking from sun damage. There's a layer of dust/grime all over the neglected motorcycle. A damn shame really.

Hopefully Maria noticed the neglect a motorcycle can really experience and she'll relay how lucky she and Brigitta are to belong to me; no matter the sometimes "interesting" terrain I sometimes subject the girls to.

Update: 23FEB9: The Nighthawk is gone! Hopefully the owner is finally treating her right in terms of storage or he was out riding her. Perhaps he sold her to someone who'll treat her right.

No, honey, you can't adopt this neglected one. We've got plenty of mouths to feed as it is.

Dear Charlie6 (Dom):

My significant other acquired a Honda Rebel 400 as her practice bike, before moving onto the Honda Aero Shadow 750. That Rebel was in mint condition, with new tires, new drive chain and sprokets, new cables, new wires, and a ne battery, when she sold it to her sister, who had just acquired her license.

The last I heard, that bike was sitting out in the snow, uncovered, in Nebraska. I could have screamed. I realize some folks have few storage options, but you can always cover the bike.

In our community, the owner of that rig would have been ticketed. You can't leave a machine of any kind on the street for longer than 3 days.

Fondest regards,
Jack

But Martha, look at how cute it is! And what a wonderful home Dom could give it. :)

LOL, I was thinking the same thing as Wifey! Did the poor thing follow you home. Maybe you can bring some WD40 over, or a cover? 8^)
