Snowy Evening Ride

Around Noon today, I noticed it was snowing outside in the neighborhood.  The snow fall that had been forecasted for tonight was early!  Happy Happy Joy Joy.

Work dragged on from that point on as you can imagine but finally 4:00 PM came around and I was able to gear up and motor out to play in the snow with Valencia, my 2011 Ural Patrol Sidecar Rig.

My neighbor was out shoveling his walk but he paused to watch as me and my rig backed out onto my snow-covered driveway (one inch accumulation tops) and then ride out of the cul-de-sac.

I rode out of my neighborhood and headed south towards the ranch neighborhoods south of Inspiration Drive.  There was not much snow in the Black Forest Rd area so I checked out the Bronco Road area to the east.

After about a mile of muddy road, I finally found some good snow-covered roads bordering pretty large ranches.  The area was sparsely forested but there were good groupings of trees here and there to pose Valencia by.

It was gray and overcast at first as you can see.

The clouds were moving towards the east as I rode about.  Soon I spotted the sun trying to come out past the gray clouds and the light it brought along changed things dramatically for picture taking.

The sun is starting to come out and the skies are clearing, somewhat.

Sunset

Once the sun was down, it got dark pretty quick and colder too.  I think it was 25°F when I left the house and I noted it was closer to 16°F when I finally got home.  The only parts of me that got cold were my hands as I kept removing my gloves to handle the camera.  Even laying the gloves on the engine's jugs only helped so much.

Still, I was pretty pleased at the pictures I got, I hope you like them too.

Ok, now you photo-shopped those last two, did you? Stunning!

The middle one required some tweaking via google photo's toolkit. The last one had only minor tweaking to bring out the color and lighten the foreground.

Sigh, if only cameras saw the world the way our eyes do, it really did look like that in person. :)

Beautiful photos, especially after the sun made its brief appearance.
