Prelude to Alaska - Spring Break: Day 4, The Grand Canyon

Today we went over to the Grand Canyon National Park by way of US89 to the vicinity of Cameron, AZ and the junction with AZ State Highway 64.  Almost 80 miles to the main visitor center of the Grand Canyon National Park.

We elected to enter via the East Entrance so that I could scout possible shooting locations for sunset/sunrise pictures should I decide to stay the night at the park and camp.  In the end, the crowds (with more folks arriving in the late afternoon to "catch the sunset"; and a review of the pictured I'd taken decided me against camping.

Here's in pictures, in roughly chronological order of viewpoints as I rode from the East Entrance of the park to the Main Visitor Center.

Note: You'll see it was an overcast kind of day, even so, the lighting was bright enough to "wash out" the colors of the canyon's rock formations.  I shot using "sunset" mode to bring out the colors and the warmth that the human eye could see.  I hope you like the pictures.

Once I got back to the vacation rental we're staying at, drained and put in new oil in the engine and transmission, along with replacing the final drive fluid.  This is part of the 22,500 Km maintenance service.
