Far as I can tell, anyone can post their own travel guides. I'd not heard of them before they contacted me, they asked me if they could post about my blog posting. I figured, why not?

I can't help but feel these reports would be a better thing to base trips on. If the writers don't have a commercial interest things might be, shall we say, more accurately reported. Of course, that puts guys like Jack Riepe out of business!
