Scarlett has been repaired.

Yep, she's working again.

The clutch pack replacement and subsequent replacement of the input shaft for the gearbox allowed for her re-assembly yesterday.

Took me a total of 5 joy-filled hours to put everything back together but she's mobile again!

Had to redo the installation of the air box twice as I mis-routed part of the wiring for the left side ECU.

Reinstalling the swing arm bolts also took some time.  The left side one went on easy enough with the use of a ratchet strap to pull the arm into position; the right side bolt proved "stubborn".

Turns out the socket insert the pin screws into had come out of the swing arm and I had to hold it in place with a screwdriver while turning the pin inward.

A short test ride (it was snowing of course) and I was able to cycle through all the gears just fine.  Then I discovered the brake pedal shafts both on the tug and the sidecar were not returning to the off position, leaving my brake lights stuck in the on position.

Much hammering was needed, rotating the sidecar brake shaft lever several times before I was able to use a crowbar to force that sucker out!  Lubricated with some spray graphite, which hopefully will be better than grease.

The above was three days ago.

This morning we woke to about six inches of snow and positively balmy (when compared to the temperatures in the last few days) temperatures and sunny conditions.

After clearing the driveway and sidewalk, it was time to give Scarlett another test ride, this time in snow.

I rode out to the usual spots for pictures, having to engage 2WD a couple of times in the deep stuff as the threads on my Heidenau K37 pusher tire are quite worn down.

At the local high school where Martha used to work.

Next was the Ponderosa East neighborhood, where they hadn't gotten as much snow as we did, perhaps 3" tops.

The sunshine really made a different in the feel of the cold.  I didn't even turn on the heated grips for most of the ride!  By the time I got home it was above freezing and well on the way to the high 30s as I type this.

For now, Scarlett is to remain with us.  Perhaps her clutch will last longer if I keep her from the really rough stuff while exploring off-pavement trails.

Welcome back to the land of the living, Scarlett. So, in the last month you got a TW200 and Scarlett repaired. Seems like a profitable month. What did Martha get? I'm still waiting for the ultimate e-bike to go on sale.........Have a great weekend.

"5 joy filled hours". I'm sure you were longing for more fun-filled hours. Much nicer to be able to ride on days like that without concern of falling over. Just my humble opinion.

Glad to see it back in your posts. Although the TW still looks fun I still enjoy the Scarlett posts. Looking forward to more of you posts. Thank you again for sharing your adventures.

Thanks for the comments Army Dad, we’ll see how things go with both these rides....and you’re welcome

We did a trip out west last year to the Grand Canyon. We camped along the way out and back from Florida. Greatest adventure ever. It would have been been better with my it's but the memories the family had was well worth it. Looking forward to our next trip.

Sounds like quite the trip, Army Dad....not sure what you meant by it's though.

Aren’t you glad to have the “joy-filled hours” still in your life? Plus, you can go out riding on days like this without sliding (falling). Urals are useful for that...

I’ll admit that snow riding can be a lot of fun....and Urals make it safer....

What did Martha get? First and foremost, she has a happy husband now that he's got a full compliment of motoring options. The TW is smaller such that we are going to try bringing the scooter with us so that I have transportation options when out and about. But, I'm also sitting here typing on a new laptop so that I can resume my digital scrapbooking with greater ease. It's all good here in the House of Chang!

She sure looks pretty in the snow. Was it weird after riding the TW for a bit?

Funny you should ask, the Ural felt fast....

Well this is good news. I hope you have some fun test miles still to do with the Ural. Did you know Paul up in Wyoming with the Ural who has been out to Moab with us a few time? he has a TW as well. Good rides to ya no mater what mode it is.

Spat, yes I remember Paul....he had a slight tipping episode with his rig? I’ll have to ping him re the TW. Thanks.
