Boondocking in Arizona, Day 2: Hot Well Dunes Recreation Area

Today was a rest day for me, after the somewhat long and hectic day yesterday!

Here's hoping my fellow Veterans had a good Veterans Day!  Thanks for your service.

Besides just resting and reading, picking up trash around the campsite (remarkably very little of it!), I did not much of anything else till around 3 PM.  It was great.

I've only got one neighboring camper and he's two rows of thick bushes away from my site.  The other ones, car campers, left this morning.

Soon after 3 PM, I got in the Sammy and headed to familiar grounds to get some pictures.  Lots of tracks in evidence, there must have been lots of ATVs/OHVs running amuck in the dunes this past weekend.  Hopefully it won't get too "busy" this coming weekend.

As you can see, it was bright sunshine and clear skies today.  Not too though unless you were in the direct sunlight for a long period of time.

Javelina Peak

The light at the time, as you can see above was quite flat and glaring....I decided to park the Sammy in the shade to await the golden hour:

I read some more while in the shade, walked around a bit while trying to stay in the shady parts of the bushes and generally enjoyed the solitude.

The Golden Hour came around 4:30 PM and I think you'll agree the colors of the terrain/rocks was enrichened by the light:

A bit closer to sunset:

For the final shot, I moved the Sammy to put Javelina Peak in the background:

After a couple of bad turns, I finally found my way to the main trail that leads back to the camping areas.  Still had plenty of light left but I turned on the headlights just in case there was some other fool out there in the gathering darkness!

Good day today, nice an warm, not too cold overnight and not much of a breeze.  Perfect!
