Wyoming Boondocking - Day 15: Working on a clear way out...

Not much to report for today, the high temperature according to my thermometer was 47°F (8.3°C) but the weather app said nearby Buffalo got as high as 55°F (12.7°C).

Regardless is was nice and sunny most of the day, turning partly cloudy in the afternoon.  Lots of snow is gone from the fields around me.

Spent most of the day "crafting" a way out for Uma, the URRV.  Basically, riding Fiona to carve initial channels in the snow where I thought the URRV wheels needed to go; then going back with shovel and mostly pushing with my boots, the snow from said channels.

Once clear, the sun did most of the work, melting away the churned up snow.

Conditions after the initial run by Fiona to carve channels where
I wanted for the URRV to eventually use.

How things looked after a few hours of the sun melting away
the churned up snow, a couple of trucks riding by, and cows
returning to their pastures.

Conditions are wet mostly where the snow is gone, so I'm hoping the forecasted warm weather (50s-60s) will dry the ground up quickly.

Nearer to the campsite, the grounds are ready for the most part:

Not much else to report, I did make a water run to the nearby Hunter Campground where there's a water spigot available for use.  Refilled the 7 gallon jug, then transferred it and the contents of the 5 gallon spare jug into the fresh water tank.  The tank had run dry just before the snow hit, so I'd not refilled it while it was too cold, so as to not risk damage to the pipes if/when they froze.

I'm happy to report my preparations prior to the sub-freezing temperature seem to have resulted in no plumbing issues.

The plan now, assuming warm weather conditions next couple of days, is to displace Sunday.

Displace to 70°F temperatures...

That’s the idea RichardM

Well that was a great story telling experience. Glad you went thru it with no major complications.

Will the muddy trails could be more of an issue for the RV than the cold and snow?

Thanks CCjon, mud is the major factor....I damn sure don’t want to get the URRV stuck or tear up the land traversing it. I’ll wait for dry ground. Disappointingly, the snow wasn’t as thick in the parts near the Mesa, do not much in terms of snow photography.

I sure hope that the mud dries out before you get to move Uma, Dom. Otherwise the weather seems perfect to keep people at distance ;-)

As you’ve no doubt read by now, Uma and I made it off the mesa with no issues...I really should not have bothered clearing a path....as to keeping people away, they were still around but not bad.
