T-Dub'ing near Hat Mountain, AZ

Pretty light day for activities, pretty windy though sunny and warm.

Somehow, managed to sleep through the night.  Usually I wake up around 2-3AM and usually struggle a bit to get back to sleep, only to wake way before sunrise.

This comes in handy for catching good sunrise pics but it gets old.

This morning, I didn't wake up till almost 7AM.  It felt good.

Rode about the northern portion of Area B with Yagi, my TW200 dualsport.  I rode all the way to the small yet steep pass near Trail 617 but didn't attempt the pass as I was riding alone.

One the way back towards the 609 trail, I got some good pictures of Yagi with Hat Mountain in the background:

Looking back towards the 617 pass

I rode in part of the way on the 609 trail in order to get a good angle on the cone shaped rock formation:

Exiting the 609 trail, there's a small hillside with several shallow caves embedded.  I parked Yagi and walked to one of the more accessible openings for this show of the valley which includes Hat Mountain:

Rode back to camp with no further pics taken or issues.  I apparently had the whole place to myself as I would only see one Jeep the whole day, and that was later in the afternoon.

Relaxed in the shade, read my book, and just took it easy.  The only "work" done was replacing the brake switch for Fiona's brake pedal.  I'd had the part for a while now and I finally got motivated to replaced the broken one.

What?  Not worried about not activating brake lights when slowing down?  Fiona has only drum brakes you see, so you use both front and rear brakes to full potential when wanting to stop, there's no just using the rear brakes.  The front brake lever switch works fine to alert the unwary/texting cagers behind me theoretically.

Your hermit-by-choice lifestyle seems quite satisfying for you, Dom. Playing with the wheels during daytime and a good night's sleep during nighttime.

I often struggle with my sleeping pattern at night (usually wake up between 3 and 4 am for no reason), however when I am traveling or hiking I sleep through like a baby.

Is the rear brake switch the one with the spring attached to it? They don't seem to last very long as they aren't protected very well from the elements.

Sleeping through the night continues to elude me SonjaM but it is what it is eh?

I like the solitude when I can find it....

There’s been variations of switches RichardM, the ‘99 model I have in Fiona the switch has a plastic rod that drops out to complete the brake light circuit. The old one’s rod had broken off. I think my 2011 used the spring you mention. I can’t picture now, what method my 2014 uses.

Glad to see you are out there enjoying your retirement.

Hearing those warthogs make their practice runs must have been thrilling. Do they ever make night runs firing live ammo?

Thanks CCjon, no night strafing or flights heard, it’s a very big range so perhaps they do that further west away from the highway,
