Independence Day Sunrise

Happy Birthday to my adoptive country, the United States of America.

240 years old today.  A youngster when compared to the older countries and cultures of Europe and Asia; but still quite a country.

Having just come from the U.K. where Martha and I spent a month touring, I am certainly more appreciative of the similarities and differences between our cultures.  Not to mention, the roads seem wider here....  :)

Still a bit jetlagged, I was awake by 4:21 AM and on the road shortly before 5:00 AM to catch the 240th 4th of July Sunrise....

Not sure where this country is going but it should be an interesting ride....

For my fellow Americans, have a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July!

Long may these colors wave....

Happy Independence Day to you as well. I must admit that I'm surprised at the 240 year number. I doesn't seem that long ago when it was the bicentennial...

Beautiful sunrise photos! And have fun at the USCA rally (is it really a rally?).

Thanks RichardM, as to it being a rally, I think they're expecting around 200 rigs? I'll let you know. I echo your feeling that the bicentennial didn't seem that long ago.
