A Sunset Ride for Fiona

Just to make sure you don't get the impression I'm always working on Fiona, my '99 URAL Patrol with a BMW R80 engine; we rode out to catch this evening's sunset.

Yes, I went through a period of way too many sunset shots I'll admit.  I am trying to change it up a bit though, see what you think.

Temperatures were in the low 60s, high 50s and I basically had the sunset viewing spot to myself.

I will say, trying to get a picture of one's self with the rig, but without an intruding car can be tricky in terms of timing!

So far, April has been very warm for us here in Colorado, I hear there's snow in the midwest and bad weather out on the coastal areas to the east as well.  I'm hoping for at least one good snow fall here, so I can see how Fiona does in the snow.

Fiona is about 85% there in terms of mechanical stuff, I think I need to really soak the carburetors in some cleaning solution overnight as there's a really small amount of hesitation at times.  Still, she's running pretty good overall.  Got a pair of Beru branded spark plugs recommended by BURAL, hopefully they'll help Fiona run smoother.

After one run with the new Beru spark plugs, noted that the right plug showed signs of running too rich, so did some extra cleaning of the main jet where it meets the needle jet, we'll see in the morning if it made a difference.

So, sunset pics, hopefully different enough....

Really nice clouds in the pictures! If I was to vote for one, I would pick the 2nd one. Completely different profile from the other shots.

Not having both carbs feeding from the a common air plenum is going to make dialing in the carbs a bit more challenging.

The third foto screams: I am ready for adventure. Perfect header pic imho.

Thanks RichardM, as the present air filters are basically just there to keep small objects out, didn't figure air intake was a factor? I need to get really strong cleaner stuff for the carb components.

Thanks SonjaM, I thought I looked like the guardian robot in "The day the earth stood still". ;)

Dear Gort,

Please don't reduce our planet to a smoking cinder. Have mercy on us and allow for some more riding...

The third picture is strong. The hint of sunlight reflecting off the tub is nice. Only thing I might have tried would be some fill flash or post-processing to reveal a bit more detail on Fiona and Gort.

And the last photo is strong as well.

I was wondering if that was the intent.

Steve Williams, mercy shall be granted....ride on.

thanks for the feedback, comments, trying to integrate some of the feedback received from you and others in my shooting. My post-processing tools/capabilities failed to bring out any details from the silhouettes in the third shot.

Nice! I vote for #1 or #2 to be used as a new header!
