Vegas!

Ah Las Vegas, famed city known for its gambling, it's ability to separate one from one's money (another name for the city is "Lost Wages"), it's eye-catching buildings designed to entertain and lure you inside to spend money, and it's history of involvement with "the Mob".

But first, one last picture of my nephews: Nathan and Evan; taken as they left for school and I readied to go to Vegas:

I arrived in Las Vegas yesterday evening, still trailering Scarlett, my 2014 URAL Sidecar Rig.  I called a friend of mine, Erik S., who coincidentally was in town for a tech conference and we met for dinner.

Scarlett and I motored over, again it felt good to be riding her instead of driving a car!  I found Erik's hotel, the Cosmopolitan, easily enough against the neon-splashed skyline that is "the strip".  This is the name given to the area where the major casinos/hotels are located.

I met up with Erik and we situated my camera on his room's balcony for this time-lapse sequence shot while we went and consumed a sumptuous and a bit pricey dinner.  Las Vegas apparently is now regarded as a Epicurean's delight.  I must admit, the food was incredible!  Sorry, no food porn shots.

After dinner, I retrieved my camera and went to get some sleep while Erik went to play some Poker.

Woke up this morning at 3:30 AM and motored out to try and pose Scarlett in front of some of the cool casino structures I'd seen the night before.

 The Excalibur Hotel

 The Luxor Hotel
(usually it has a very bright beam of light shooting straight up)

My favorite hotel, the New York, New York

Here's a time-lapse sequence taken from the observation area in front of the Tropicana Hotel/Casino which sits diagonally across from NYNY.

Is Cosmopolitan the new name for the Bellagio? Or at least that looks about where it is from your first video. Hmmm, maybe next door...

It looks like there are no more fountain shows or at least not captured on the video. I've been there more times than I can count but have no favorites. Most places now have some spectacular restaurants though all pretty pricy. Even the buffets are really expensive.

The Bellagio is next door RichardM.

There were fountain shows, I just didn't set things up correctly it seems before we rushed off to dinner. Oh well. And yes, dinner was expensive!

I'm guessing the finger-snapping escort business card dispensers were unavoidable. Now that seems to be a very efficient market, keeping prices well managed and affordable, not that I'm a consumer, only a market observer.

I have stayed in the New York New York back in 2001, thanks for bringing back those memories.
For me Las Vegas was no more than a feast for the eyes and a source of cheap food. I don't gamble, and I don't do any of the other stuff why people go there (such as getting married...).

the place for me was my head quarter when visiting Zion NP, the Dam and the big hole, a.k.a. Grand Canyon.

I wonder if we will see you riding there...

David Masse, I never was in range of those street hawkers....just rode on by... :)

SonjaM, the days of cheap food are gone....

Great night shots and time lapse too.

Only been to Vegas once, but I can remember how long that strip was to walk up and down all the way.

Love the time lapse ... Never been to Vegas myself.

Some great shots of the strip, especially the time lapses. I'm a big fan of Vegas, but only 3-4 days at a time. Anything more just overwhelms, and totally breaks the bank. :(

Fun to see Scarlett in the urban setting. Love the mountains best though. That seems like where she belongs.

Trobairitz and VStar Lady, thanks for your comments.

Canajun, now that I've seen a bit of Vegas, I think I'm good to go.

Bluekat, you are so right.
