I rode out of Vancouver on Canada Highway 1 and turned onto Highway 99 which is also known as the Sea to Sky Highway. Quite the scenic highway almost from the beginning. Awesome mountain peaks visible across bodies of water, sometimes seemingly rising out that water!

Today's destination had been Cache Creek, about 10 km east of the junction of highways 99 and 97. It was only about 3:30 PM I believe when I reached that point so I decided to press on another 25 km or so until I reached Clinton.
After a bit of dithering, the start of a light snowfall decided things for me and I decided to motel it. Of course, as soon as I unpacked the sidecar rig, it stopped and didn't stick! Oh well. Dinner was at a nearby diner where the motel's proprietor told me "the locals go to eat". Food was OK.
So, early stop to the day, got caught up on postings in spite of a somewhat slow Internet access by the motel. I was really impressed with the Sea to Sky Highway....nice and twisty, like a roller coaster in spots and mountain peaks to delight the eye. Highly recommended if you're in the area!

Watch out for the caribou, grizzlies and wolves -- all considered Ural predators.

Beautiful scenery. That's one of the few places I've actually visited (back in 2001). We were in the car as we were still years away from having bikes. This is going to be such an awesome trip to follow!
Beautiful photos. One of these days I won't have a calendar telling me I need to be somewhere and will do a little more exploring in Canada. Until now, it has just been on the way to somewhere else...

Absolutely beautiful! I still find it hard to believe there are buds on the trees out there. One thing I love about western Canada ... the highways have such descriptive names; Sea to Sky, Going to the Sun ... I see a bit of a theme here.
Steve, thanks for the comments....I saw the first moose of the trip today on way to Fraser Lake, big sucker...I think it was a cow as it didn't have a rack (so to speak). It was heading for the road but saw me and turned around....I had been at same time slowing to a stop while still watching the moose and the truck behind me to make sure it saw my brakelights come on. A few exciting seconds in a dull day of riding.

RichardM, the Sea to Sky highway is definitely one of the more scenic highways I've ridden.....worth your time.
As to being near the Cassiar, I hope to be on its southern end tomorrow....no snow on the roads, but you do see snow in the fields alongside the road.

Simply beautiful! I love the panorama picture. It looks like you are starting to get into the groove. :) But letting a little snow flurry sideline you? You of the dead of winter hacking riding in Colorado? hehe I'm glad you stopped early and relaxed.
