LINK: Traveling with BMW Motorrad

I saw this on Keep The Rubber Side Down's Blog today: LINK

It's a blurb and a link to BMW Motorrad's photo contest which ends at the end of this month. There's more details at the BMW, along with a link to upload your own pictures if you want to compete.

From the BMW Calendar 2010 Contest site:

The theme is “Travelling with BMW Motorrad“; all amateur and professional photographers are entitled to take part. The requirement is that one or more BMW Motorrad machines are shown in the photograph, no matter which model or year of construction. So you are welcome to send older photographs if you like, as we are equally interested in historical pictures.

The only thing that is important to us is that you provide an impressive perspective on the theme of travelling on a BMW. Along with the photo you should include a short report, a route description and a rider profile including picture. And if there is a GPS file to go with it, so much the better. You should also include a brief statement as to why you chose this BMW motorcycle – and then just send in your entry!

Of all photos submitted by the deadline of May 31st, 30 will be shortlisted. These will be shown online in advance and all visitors to the website can enter a rating for their favourite photos (though this will not have any direct influence on the final decision of the editorial team).

A panel of 13 judges will then select the best and most suitable pictures (one for each month of the year plus a cover photo) for the 2010 BMW Motorrad calendar. The 13 winners will be invited to the BMW Motorrad Days 2009 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Here they can look forward to a great weekend with a “BMW Motorrad Days 2009 Package” consisting of two nights at a hotel, a fan package (T-shirt and cap) and a VIP armband for free food and drink on the grounds, as well as access to the VIP area in the main tent in the evening.

The above picture near Teec Nos Pos in Arizona is one of a few that I sent in, the prize sounds pretty great. My only worry is, besides not making the cut, is that the size of the pictures is not large enough for their requirements. Oh well, you can't win if you don't enter right?

A little extract from the contest's terms & conditions:

"7. Copyright [...] b) Assignment of rights
Every participant grants the organizer and its partners unlimited, non-exclusive rights in terms of space, time and content - including the rights to process the submitted images."

In other words: BMW has the right to do whatever they want with ANY of the submitted images (not only the winning ones). For as long as they want.

that's pretty standard I think...so long as I can continue to use them, it does not matter to me....
