Brigitta, my 1987 R80 Airhead Beemer, pretty as she is...proved to me to be a fair weather motorcycle this morning.
I had taken her out for a short spin in temperatures that were in the upper 30s. I was wearing as usual my Motoport Air Mesh Kevlar gear, a windproof insulated liner for the jacket and jeans under the riding pants. That Air Mesh gear sure lets you feel the air streaming past the miniscule S fairing I installed on the motorcycle!
If Brigitta were my only motorcycle, I'd be looking into purchasing the insulated pant liners for my motoport pants! Fortunately, I have Maria, my 2004 R1150RT, with her full fairings which keep most of the wind off me while riding.
In less than 30 minutes of riding, I was chilled slightly and my hands were starting to feel a bit numb, so I headed on home. I guess Maria will be getting more of my attentions from now on until Spring arrives once more in the Rockies.

I m going to mount hand shields -- commonly found on BMW's GS models -- on my K75 this month. While it is still warm here, it will get cold fast and I do not relish wearing bulky gloves. On the "Haggis" ride last year (covered in the MOA's ON), I wore light leather gloves, that worked in the 35ยบ weather that day. But we slabbed the 100 miles back in the evening and my fingertips were blue and throbbing, when I returned to the garage.
These OEM black BMW hand shields will look cool on "Fire Balls" and should reduce the wind chill factor by a lot.

yeah, I'd considered those black GS handguards myself for Brigitta, but since I've got the 1150RT for cold weather....
I can't imagine riding without the wind protection of the RT during the colder months. The heated handgrips,and the adjustable windshield, are also greatly appreciated.
